VIDEO: ICON Sport - Phil Baroni vs. Kala Kolohe Hose

by Leland Roling 3/16/2008 4:54:00 AM

Baroni didn't anticipate someone withstanding his onslaught, but Hose did prove that his striking needs a lot of work. Both Baroni and Hose didn't have anything technical to offer, and Hose was very hesitant even when Baroni looked like he was about to pass out from exhaustion.

Wow that sucked. What the hell was Baroni hungover. He gased in like no time and then he couldn't even recover when he got breaks.

MMA_Analyst-

I think your comments are a little mis-guided.

Hose stated that he was taking his time, not wanting to get caught - which you called "hesitant".

Also, you don't have to be the best "technical" striker to be a good striker in MMA - look at Chuck Liddell.

I think it was a great fight by Hose and easily one of the biggest MMA upsets given Hose was not known and Phil Baroni has fought many great fighters.

I consider Liddell to be a technical striker. Probably the best counter puncher in mma.

Hose taking his time not wanting to get caught is a poor excuse. After the third round, Baroni was absolutely worthless. Hose could have recklessly went in for the kill and Baroni would have simply tried to single leg, which wasn't happening since he had no power to do so. Baroni was done after round 3.

Liddell is a technical striker unlike your assessment. Liddell mixes power with great counter punching that's very accurate.

I also disagree completely that Hose vs Baroni was "one of the biggest MMA upsets". It was an upset, but far from one of the biggest. Baroni isn't a superpower in MMA at all.

Baroni had this guy in the 1st round and wasnt able to get the job done!!!!!
-Took Kala down and gave him some good shots several times even standing over him and landing knees and stomps to his head. ...But i dont think Baroni was good enough to take that guy out, which any good fighter would have slaughtered, ko'd or sub'd the guy. Baroni the new york baloni had control of the guy on the ground and couldnt even pound him out and finish it, but he did give some good knees to kala!!
-Baroni the new york baked baloni's performance after that was crap!!! How many times did this punk reach for kala's leg to take him down??? How many times did he go under the ropes to get away from kala aaaaand lost a point for that???? He took such a beating and lost badly. His conditioning was pathetic, guaranteed his camp didnt condition him well, as he probably thought he had this no problem!

Baloni needs a new camp!!!! His condition sucked and so did his striking!!!
The only credit i give this guy, is being strong and able to take long beatings!
Baroni the new york Baloni is washed up, finish and stale!!!
Ya he fought all these good guys and whatever(never even got a title, lol) , but look at this cheap stale baloni now????

Looks like the speed of Phil Baronis mouth doesnt match the speed of his gloves.

The guys a good entertainer, but he needs to step it up a bit, hes lost 3 or 4 fights in a row(i forget Tong).
